About
the Author
You most likely don't know me yet, but I am the President
and CEO of World Payment Services, Inc., an Independent
Sales Organization (ISO) doing business as World Payment
Services™. World Payment Services™ is known
as a credit card processing company among other things.
My background includes owning an agency for Cardservice
International (another ISO), at one time the largest privately
owned "non-cash transaction processing company" in the
US until bought out by First Data Corporation in 2002.
ISOs, Independent Agencies, and as they are sometimes
even called Merchant Service Providers (MSPs), are the
selling arms for processors like First Data Corporation.
I bought and opened an Agency for Cardservice International
in 1998. Since then, through a lot of hard work and help
from excellent employees that I was lucky enough to find,
the agency at that time grew to being one of the largest
Cardservice International agencies in the US. Since then
I formed our own brand and ISO, World Payment Services™.
I knew very little about the Merchant Account world when
I started back in 1998. I did have a business at that
time with a Merchant Account that accepted credit cards.
Believe me when I say that I wish I could have read a
guide like this back then. I would have saved time, money,
and considerable headaches.
I hope you will consider using World Payment Services™
for your non-cash and credit card processing needs but
the purpose of this Merchant Account Buyer's Guide is
to educate you to the advantages and pitfalls of accepting
credit and debit cards properly - whether you use World
Payment Services™ or not.
You see, when I was an agency owner, I would get a call
from a competing credit card processing company (ISO)
trying to convince me to jump ship and come with them
almost weekly. The Merchant Account business is very competitive
and people flip around with signing bonuses, offers of
better buy rates, and claims of better service all the
time. Anyway, they would all tell me that I would make
more money and they had better service. I still chose
to stay the course. I'm glad I did because World Payment
Services™ is as good as any competitor - and better
than most - balancing price with service.
Sincerely,

Jack Kimball
