After the acquisition of Cardservice International (CSI) by First Data in 2001 First Data re-branded Cardservice International as First Data Independent Sales ( FDIS). Cardservice International (CSI) was founded in 1988 and was a leader in the transaction processing industry for many years until Cardservice International, Inc. was bought in its' entirety by First Data Corporation ( First Data). FDIS continued as an Independent Sales Organization with independent agent owners marketing credit card processing services. To this day many of the agent owners who were marketing themselves as Cardservice International agents are now doing business as independent agents for FDIS.

The principals of World Payment Services™ were originally an agent office with Cardservice International. World Payment Services™ is now registered properly as an Independent Sales Organization themselves with the Master Card/ Visa Associations in order to have an exclusive brand. World Payment Services™, registered to do business under its' own name, continues to maintain a business relationship with First Data Independent Sales ( FDIS).
